| My name is Mike Evanoff and at 60
year's old I finally bought the Mustang I dreamed of all my life!
I was in high school and college when the 1964 - 65
Mustangs were so popular and everybody wanted one.
Well, like most of us I got married and had kids to
support so I never really could justify getting a sport
car. I did own a Pontiac Firebird for a while
about 15 years ago but it was a used car and had way too
many problems so I sold it.
Now that I am a "boomer" I finally got around to
getting myself a new Ford Mustang. My wife's car,
a 1997 Lexus ES 300 was really worn out and I had a 2001
Lexus ES 300 so I made my wife a deal, I'd trade her car
in on a new Mustang and "upgrade" her car to the 2001
Lexus. That sounded great to her!

This was my dream car when I was a kid. Now, the
classic Mustang look is back in the form of the 2007
Mustang!

I talked about different brands of sports cars I'd
like but after some thought I decided I'd get what I had
always dreamed of owning - a Mustang!
So, I called my local Ford dealer, after reviewing
his inventory online and determined they did have some
2007 Torch Red Mustangs on hand. I made an appointment to
go in on April 20, 2007 about 3PM. My wife was to
meet me there on her way home form her teaching job in
Palm Springs. By the time she got there I had
already picked one out. It turned out that they
really didn't have as many red ones as I thought, but
after some looking around I settled on one. I'm
not a "racer" kind of guy so I went for the auto
transmission, 2-door coupe in torch red. It was a
beauty (see below) but I really had dreams of a really
"outstanding" car. So we made the deal and stopped
for pizza on the way home to celebrate!
As soon as I got it my mind began racing about how to
really make this a "standout" car. I looked online
at customized Mustangs and got some ideas. I took
a picture of the car and made some drawings that I
thought would make it look really sharp. I took my
ideas to a buddy who owns a tire/auto repair business,
that is big on custom cars. By this time I had
decided that I wanted a hood scoop, ducktail rear
spoiler, louvered small windows and custom wheels and
tires. My buddy hooked me up with some 20" Boss
chrome wheels TOYO tires. I had a desire for some
striping so he sent me to Palm Springs AutoBody where
Chad had some great ideas. By this time I had the
wheels on so was on my way! He told me to hold off
on any striping until they added the headlight
splitters, hood scoop, louvered windows and rear
spoiler. A few days later they were done with that
and by this time I had scoured the Internet for
"accessories" and decals that would add flair. I
found a "running ponies" decal that was used as the 1979
Mustang Indy Pace Car Running Pony - applying it just
the way they did. I ordered a set of fader rocker
panel "Mustang" decals as well as decals for the 4.0 L
V6 on the hood scoop, and a small script "Mustang" decal
that was applied to the back, right side of the trunk
lid.
Inside I have been adding billet "chrome" trim items
as I find them on the Internet. Go

After photos. |
